Description
Image title: Martian Dust Devil Trail.
This picture was taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter on October 21, 2009. The dark swirls were made by dust devils meandering across the Marsian surface. They vacuum up the redish colored dust leaving the darker and heavier sand below it in place. One (or more) of the dust devils gave a Mars Rovers solar panels a free cleaning.
Our thanks to NASA/JPL/University of Arizona for the use of this image.
